Tuesday 26th to Saturday 30th May, Skala, Patmos

Yet another sailing day across from Arkoi for 10 miles to Skala on Patmos. With quite a cross wind onto the main harbour wall when we arrived we opted to go side-to on the pontoon at the head of the harbour, which has the advantage of being slightly quieter, although slightly further to walk round to the main village. Nearby is a lovely Taverna and bakery and bar. Last October when we were here, we were stern-to on the wall.
We ended up staying until Saturday during which time, we cycled south along the undulating coast, until we were eventually defeated by a long steep hill. Some places are only just opening up for the summer – we passed a Taverna that announced it would be opening on Friday. We walked up to the Chora again, exploring more of it’s narrow and winding paths, did other walks and stocked up with victuals (mainly beer!) for when Fern and Stew arrive next Thursday.
We also bumped into Helen and Julian (Quintet) with their daughter and her boyfriend.
