A couple of nights on Lipsi town who were hosting the 16th International Goran Schildt Regatta and providing a spectacle of traditional dancing and free red wine and sumptuous cakes.
Tuesday we took the opportunity to ‘get some steps in’ and walk to a remote beach called Monodendra (one tree).
When we were last here in Lipsi back in June, with Fern and Stew, we had an unpleasant experience in Manoli’s, the best restaurant in town, with an incorrect meal being served, and meat juices poured over my shirt. Manoli gave us a bottle of wine to make amends. So we went back on Tuesday evening and were given the best table in the house, a romantic juliet balcony table for 2, on the upper floor, overlooking outside tables and with distant views across Lipsi island. The slow cooked lamb in lemon sauce and grilled vegetables and shrimp stuffed artichokes on a bed of taramasolata, with freshly baked bread rolls were truly delicious.
We’re loitering in the general Leros area, awaiting a call from the Kos police to go and collect our 10 year Residency Permits, still nothing heard. It’s now been 2 and a half weeks. Our dilemma is that we’ve booked winter storage for Jacana at the Almira ship yard, some 200 miles away near the Corinth Canal, with a lift out booked for the 9th October, and flight home from Athens on the 13th. The longer we wait, the less flexibility we have in crossing the Agean.
