We experienced a superb week with Fern on board, visiting the best of the places we had earmarked the previous 2 weeks. So Monday we did Aegina, Tuesday Vathi, including a taxi ride and walk to Methoni’s still active (by definition only) volcano, Wednesday Old Epidavros, including snorkelling on the sunken city (actually a few buildings) and on Thursday morning a bus trip to Greece’s largest and spectacular Epidaurus ampitheatre. Friday we anchored in Korfos before the highlight of the week, transiting the Corinth canal on Saturday (€174 transit fee) . The canal has been beset with landslip problems for the past 2 years, so when it opened on 1 June this year (and for a few weeks last year) we planned Fern’s week to include this. Then finally Saturday night in Corinth harbour to say farewell to Fern on Sunday morning for her taxi, then train journey back to Athens airport and home.
A lot of photos below! and a video of the Corinth Canal.
