Saturday 28th to Sunday 29th May, Mavrounas Bay, Itheka

Despite Kioni being idyllic, we decided to move on, not far though to the sheltered Mavrounas Bay round the northern corner we had walked to a couple of days earlier. In getting there however, and with a bit of breeze when we left we aimed to sail round Atacos island and back, but as is typical for the area, as we approached the island the wind dropped so we turned round and sailed gently back again. We dropped the anchor in about 10m and swung in the ever changing breeze for the night. We were actually the only boat anchored until dusk, when a couple of Italians arrived on a charter yacht and asked our advice on where to anchor, explaining that they were ‘rookies’. Why leave it to dusk and just as well the winds were very light. Also the opportunity for time wasting also known as fishing!
