A short run of just 6 miles, round the corner to (Big) Vathi and mooring up on the western Town Quay with the usual stern lines and anchor at a reasonable charge of €10 per night or €15 for 2. Paying the very friendly Labrini who says she has to walk the whole way around the bay collecting fees. (It’s a big bay). Vathi is quite a large town and stopping off here allowed us to see a bit more than we saw walking here the other day and provision the boat. However the great ‘excitement’ of Vathi was mooring up 2 boats away from another Hallberg Rassy 36, and the opportunity to chat with Hakan and Eva (a lovely Swedish couple) on Liv and compare and tour our respective boats. Liv was bought in the UK and has serial no 286, Jacana is 309, their’s had non opening saloon windows and a different stern berth layout and not unsurprisingly the rest of the boat was very similar to Jacana. Hakan had upgraded their cockpit table from the very wobbly original HR one to a folding table permanently attached to the binnacle, something we will now change when we get the opportunity and they were very envious of our solar panel gantry and will now be investigating further.
