A great 25nm sail south east from the harbour entrance at Agia Kirikos to the shelter of Glipapa Bay on the island of Arkoi. We’d very briefly contemplated trying to get onto the harbour wall on the island but opted for the tranquility of an anchorage. And just as well we did, at about 7pm, the distant music started and continued until 4am but partying went on till 5am! We discovered when we went ashore on Sunday for lunch, it was the wedding celebration of a couple from Leros.
When we arrived in the bay, the skipper of a neighbouring boat came across to us asking if we had any diving equipment and could dive. No to the equipment, but we could dive to about a metre. Apparently they had dropped a mobile phone off the stern in about 14m and were looking for help to
retrieve it. However about an hour later, he did find a diver and within 5 minutes had retrieved it. Whether it still worked, we don’t know.
