Tuesday 12th to Sunday 17th May, Lakki Marina

30 nights come free at Lakki Marina (it’s not a marina, rather a section of the harbour wall) no toilets or showers, non potable water, with our annual contract at Moor and Dock. An opportunity to get a few more jobs done whilst floating, with the fridge on rather than perched high on a boat cradle which equals no fridge and warm beer! The main job being successfully fitting the inverter we brought out last year although the on/off led on the remote switch decided not to work on its second day of life. The bikes suffer a bit tied permanently to the guard rail, so a new gear shifter and seized brake cable were replaced. The fourth hatch cover turned up, although we decided to attach these permanently with thin cord rather than thick elastic as it was compromising the seal. And we filled up the main tank with diesel, 135l at €1.89/l, cheaper than the UK, partially due to the reduced VAT rate of 17.5% on Leros instead of 24% in the rest of Greece.
One of the great things about being moored stern-to on a wall is meeting other sailors. Inge and Toni from Vienna were next to us for a few days and it was good to chat and dine with them at El Greco. Also chatting with German neighbours, Herman and Johanna, and brits John and Pam (who we met last season somewhere apparently).
Finally the opportunity to replenish food and beer stocks, and Ann managed a cold swim which after the initial plunge became quite warm.
