This is an out of the way small site tucked away just inside the Lake District National Park between Lamplugh and Ennerdale Bridge, just a few miles south of Cockermouth. And with 6 nights, the opportunity to relax a bit. So the first day saw us cycling to Ennerdale water, and although we left in glorious sunshine, by the time we got to Ennerdale water, the heavens opened and we had to seek shelter under the trees lining the banks. The hill back, up from Croasdale was even too steep for those of us with electric power! Other days we ventured to Loweswater and beyond for a light lunch in the Kirkstyle Inn, and on the way back Ann managed a swim in the ‘warm’ water of Loweswater. Another day, another light lunch, well actually a full English at 1 o’clock, at the Ennerdale Brewery (and of course washed down with some of their well crafted beers), and on our final day we had lunch at the Fox and Hounds at Ennerdale Bridge, although their light lunches were anything but light! After the deluge at Ennerdale Water of the first day, we were blessed with unseasonably (for the Lake District) hot and dry weather which actually made walking any great distances uncomfortable, that said we did manage a beautiful late afternoon walk from the campsite up Blake Fell, yet another Wainwright at a height of 577m. A route that took us past fly fishermen allegedly catching rainbow trout (though we saw no sign of fish) who were stood in the waters of Cogra Moss. We sampled some delicious blaeberries (wild blueberries) and managed to fill a punnet-full on our way back down the fell. Heading south next.<\/p>\n\n\n
