A 40 mile leg to the north today, to the middle of the 3 fingers that hang down from the north Greece coast. Typically the wind for such a passage would be on the nose. Today however there was no wind, so motoring all the way to Porto Koufo village in a pretty, natural harbour in the region of Halkidiki to anchor for a couple of nights.
We’d ideally liked to have filled up with water, however the only tap on the mole is reported to have unpotable water, which we half confirmed when we tasted the water at a beach shower just along a bit. So we stocked up with bottled water.
On Wednesday we walked to the next village, Toroni, clearly a local tourist town and ‘enjoyed’ a very expensive orange juice, coffee, chocolate croissant (last croissant left) and doughnut all for €23. Heat is really racking up now so it’s a great relief to occasionally jump off the back of the boat to cool down. In the evening we paddled (can’t row owing to rollock unglueing itself) over to the nearest Taverna that got 4.6 in reviews. Started with a couple of mezes namely fried zucchini and boiled, warm beetroot with crushed garlic followed by pork chop and dorado. Very friendly lovely staff. Ann even had help by one of the guests to get in the dinghy, he offered his shoulder for her to hold and steadied the boat while she climbed in.
