Tuesday 6th to Friday 9th May, Limni

Absolutely no wind when we woke from our restful sleep in the bay round the corner from the bridge (the bay probably does have a name) so we motored the 22 miles to Limni (meaning lake) . It’s still very quiet so we managed to get the only space inside the harbour wall. Three later arrivals had to tie up on the outside wall and endure the strange swell that picked up at dusk despite no wind. It is probably a tidal phenomenon in this area as unusually for the Med, we have nearly a metre of tidal range. Limni is a delightful little town, with lots of restaurants and bars and interesting back streets. We enjoyed 3 nights here and fully victualed Jacana with necessary wine, beer, meat and vegetables. On Thursday evening we ate in a very back street Taverna, and enjoyed very tender beef in tomato sauce with chips, and possibly because we were the only customers, enjoyed a complimentary beer to keep us a bit longer. Overall a good stopping place for a few nights unspoilt by tourism. Before we left on Friday we gave Jacana a well needed wash down.
