Friday 20th to Saturday 21st September, Sounion Bay

At last the wind had swung round to the north, with the F5, gusting F6 giving us a fast and fairly comfortable beam reach across to the mainland to anchor in the relative shelter of Sounion Bay, in the shadow of Poseidon’s temple perched high on the cliff top. Us and about 50 charter boats! most of which left by late afternoon.
We’ll save visiting the temple for another occasion as with wind gusts of nearly 30knots, we wanted to ensure that the anchor was well set into the sea bed and we were therefore reluctant to leave Jacana.
