Just a couple of hours hop to the island of Kavalianni.
As one of us had the ab dabs, probably caused by him drinking some very flat and cloudy beer, we decided to stay for a couple of nights. We did however get the bikes out to explore part of the island and took the opportunity to swim in the warm harbour.
The island is very strange because despite having a well protected small harbour, built probably in the past 25 years, a metalled road system, power infrastructure, and a few buildings, the island is completely deserted. Apparently it belongs to a Greek bank that had grand plans that obviously didn’t completely materialise. The house we visited had to an extent been vandalised, but it looked as if the residents left quickly, leaving behind furniture, their car, TV, and even a packet of washing powder.
