We’d tried to make an earlyish start from Porto Lafia , but as we turned the plotter on, it decided to do a factory reset. An hour later and after lots of swearing, we were on our way heading further north to try to escape the brunt of the Meltemi and it’s ferocious 20 to 40kt gusts which appear from nowhere and hit you like an express train, swinging the boat viciously and at all angles. So 15 miles motoring into the wind to the ‘sheltered’ bay of Agios Dimitrios. We anchored very securely with 3 other boats at the head of the bay, yet still the wind gusts hit us. In fact as we arrived, one of the other anchored boats was in the process of having its bimini ripped off. So it was a couple of nights here, and despite the wind, on Sunday morning we ventured ashore and took a long walk round to the town of Panayia, to enjoy a cold fresh orange juice.
