With light northerly winds we finally got a sail unfurled as we sailed slowly south on the eastern side of Methana, and decided on a whim to stop for the night on the inside of the ferry wall of Methana town, as usual stern to. It’s sad to say that the town has absolutely nothing going for it. Lots of permanently closed shops, buildings in a poor state of repair and a single small supermarket. And yet Costas, the helpful chap that collects fees in Vathi, also took another €12.50 from us here. To top it, despite there being no wind overnight, the harbour attracted a swell from somewhere, resulting in a constant tugging on the lines all night. We’d even put on extra stern lines as the constant tugging was so severe! As a plus, two swallows decided to roost for the night on our safety rail, although did leave behind their calling cards in the morning.
