Monday 27th to Friday 31st May, Galaxidi

We ended up motoring initially for 10 miles from Trezonia and once the westerly wind picked up we sailed downwind for the final 11 miles round into the beautiful town of Galaxidi. We’d been here last year, anchoring in the bay as the temperatures topped 40 odd degrees, but this time we opted for stern to on the Town Quay.
We were soon befriended by our Bristol neighbours Gael and Steve on Songbird who suggested that we share a hire car and visit Delphi on Tuesday. And what a great day it was, as per the photos below. Additionally we also drove slightly further up the mountain to the beautiful village of Arachova.
Ann took her first swim, and we made other new friends Mac and Lynne, who moved to the north of Rome from the UK a few years ago, although were about to give up sailing to enjoy their house and garden, and Steve and Annette the owners of a large catamaran from Felthorpe in Norfolk who were on their way back to the Ionian. They lived in Borneo for a few years and gave us some advice on travelling in Bali.
Galaxidi, in the late 19th century, was a major Greek ship building town, which is recognised in the excellently curated maritime museum.
Thursday evening we ate with Mac and Lynne at a fish Taverna and final farewell drinks on their boat afterwards. Thank you for the bottle of fizz to celebrate our wedding in July.
Friday morning, time to move on!
