No wind again so it was motoring the 17 miles across to Kastos, but at least we got a space on the harbour wall, so this probably being our favourite place in the Ionian, we’re here to stay for a few days.
The weather however wasn’t brilliant, being cold and windy, but we did managed a walk across the island to Sarakiniko Bay and up in the hill round the attractive village.
One Tuesday night we ate in the Windmill Taverna , where unfortunately, Christos, helped by his brother in law only served a very reduced menu, as the rest of his family, sadly, had to go to the mainland for a bereavement. However the pork steak, and sea bream were excellent.
Unlike last time we visited in Oct 23, El.A’s bar was open, so we took, and very much enjoyed the opportunity to catch up with Alex and his wife Ella and relish in the magnificent view from his balcony, his banter and music selection were truly excellent.
With decent North Easterlies forecast for Friday, we began our exit from the Southern Ionian.
