Today was a no wind day so it was motoring the 20 miles from Oxias to Kastos. We were a bit optimistic in expecting a space on the harbour wall so ended up anchoring just outside it.
As we anchored, switching the engine from neutral to forward and neutral to reverse resulted in horrendous vibrations from the engine, shaking the whole boat. The Max Prop seemed fine when we dived down to look at it, and after a call to IBA in Nidri we established that it was probably just the engine idle speed adjustor had loosened slightly. Increasing the idle speed seemed to solve the problem, although a slight vibration still persisted from the prop at some revs suggesting that the cutless (yes it is cutless not cutlass) bearing is getting worn.
Anyway, we’re still eating delicious spit roasted pork so we didn’t bother getting the tender down from the gantry and running into the village, so no photos.
