This is a lovely picturesque small harbour situated under Methani’s volcano which last erupted in about 1700. Mooring up stern to, was a challenge in a brisk cross wind, but successful on a second attempt. Like other harbours in this part of Greece, it does attract an unhealthy number of charter boats. The first night however we were fortunate that it was a small Seafarer flotilla that surrounded us, with a very helpful and courteous Marcus and his daughter Jess, guiding his fleet in. In fact Marcus leapt to the rescue when a cat got snagged on our chain. They only stayed one night however and on Wednesday, it was a free for all with crossed chains and cross words! and we ended up with 4 Americans on an enormous cat (without a mast!) beside us. We were only too pleased to lend them our extension lean to avoid their generator running all night.
Apparently on Tuesday evening we walked straight past Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell who had parked their super yacht just outside the harbour, and were eating in a taverna just 20 metres from us. We probably wouldn’t have recognised them anyway!
