Sunday 4th to Thursday 8th June, Kapsali, Kithera

It was an honour to be in Kapsali with Chris and Alison to celibrate their ‘recent’ wedding, with a bottle of fizzy wine and a few nibbles. Ann picked some wild flowering herbs and some grasses on a walk last week and gave them to Alison as a posy. We wish them very best wishes for the future.

But also with strong North Easterlies and a relatively secure stern to mooring it was a great opportunity to explore the locale with them both. So lots of walking, up to the hill top old city of Chóra and it’s Castle and stunning views across Kapsali, the old windmill on the eastern edge of the harbour, the (closed) church halfway up the side of the cliff and St Sophia’s cave housing a wonderful church. The whole village was an absolute delight.

The stern to mooring was a challenge with near 30knot cross winds necessitating long breast lines back to the wall, and it wasn’t helped when a Swiss boat reversed between Jacana and Mustrat at 11pm totally oblivious to the brest lines. In the end, after a few raised voices, and the fact that his anchor hadn’t set, he went elsewhere! (with our help!)

Lots of photos below.
