Wednesday 12th to Sunday 16th October 2022, Liftout

We left Lefkas and caught the 9 o’clock floating bridge opening for a final fairly slow sail towards Preveza allowing the sails to dry following yesterday’s rain. Once tied up to Preveza Town Quay we started getting Jacana ready for winter, so sails off and neatly folded and halyards tied up ready for lift out at 0930 Thursday morning. With their usual efficiency Cleopatra’s had our bottom washed (although it was fairly clean) and propped up by 10 in her resting place for the winter. And the opportunity to catch up with various jobs and maintenance. On the plus side, we fitted our new folding teak cockpit table following a saga of the UK company sending the wrong brackets out with Fern a few weeks earlier and Philip bringing out the correct brackets. A problem however, was that I decided to clean the exhaust elbow, only to discover that the inlet water pipe just crumbled between my fingers. Also off with the raw seawater pump to bring back to the UK to fit new seals. With boat cover on (repaired in Lefkas over the summer) we flew back to Bristol on Sunday morning and bus / train / taxi back home.
