Well we took off from Gatwick an hour late, landed on Preveza slightly late, and got to Jacana at 10pm. Fortunately the taxi was able to drop us literally under the anchor, otherwise the trek across Actio dirt track yard would have been a struggle with 2 heavy rucksacks and a large hold bag with a new cockpit table along with other bits and bobs.
We’d arranged lift in for Wednesday, although the office seemed to have forgotten, but as our contract with them ended on Wednesday, they managed to squeeze us in. So Tuesday catching up with a few jobs, sterilising and filling the water tanks, washing down the decks, scraping the prop and by a fortunate coincidence catching up with Rob and Lizzie over a beer and dinner, who were just back from a month in the UK following the sad death of Lizzie’s brother.
Actio are not well organised so on Wednesday we ended up sitting around for nearly 3 hours waiting for the lift team. However once they came we were afloat and off in about 30mins.
First stop, stern-to in Preveza Town Quay, (be aware of slight tide here that can catch you out) for some well needed provisions, then before Vera (the fee collector) could catch us we’d cast off and anchored round the corner in Hospital bay for the night.
The following morning we set off for Lefkas, as we needed to pick up the serviced life raft (€366) and repaired alternator and can only sensibly stop in Lefkas Monday to Thursday. Within an hour of mooring up we’d had the life raft delivered with fortunately a 3 year service life, and picked up our refurbished alternator. However, it would probably have been cheaper to buy a new one at just under €200!
Then slipped, again before the fee collector called round and anchored off Ligia for a couple of nights, experiencing thunder and lightning early on Friday morning and a bit of successful fishing and a run ashore for bread, cheese pie and a doughnut.
