Not really sure what this bay is called, our charts call it Vathi Vali and Google maps call it Wild bay. The bay is on the mainland opposite Nidri and after a slow sail across we anchored up in what was quite a busy bay with day motor boats, and at lunchtime a tripper boat providing its 100 or so passengers with a barbecue and parasols for the beach. However come early evening, we had the bay to ourselves. We therefore decided to stay for a second night. This time after the bustle of day boats, it was us and another yacht with a couple and a little dog that their owners took ashore on its own little paddle board, and made it swim a lap of their boat before giving it a shower down. However, come twilight on Wednesday the bay lived up to its name. It started with a distant thump thump thump of very loud music and in the distance flashing lights. Within minutes Nidri Star 1 and 2 came into view, boats we’d seen docked in Nidri, both filled with ‘dancing’ youngsters and beached a few yards from where we were anchored. The music was painfully loud and awful. Fifteen minutes after beaching, the beach was full of probably 300 youths, drinking and moving to very loud modern music, with some swimming and jumping off the sides of the pleasure boat, with others letting off flares. The bay was living up to it name! Fortunately at about 1130, the mob was summoned back on board, a team picked up rubbish from the beach, and after a bit of difficulty (the captain on the bigger boat asked passengers to move to the back of the boat so he could reverse off the beach) they left as noisily as they had arrived! Peace was restored!
