We decided to head for Preveza a day before Fern’s arrival to guarantee that we got onto the Town Quay. If necessary we would have anchored for the night round the corner and waited for a space to appear on Wednesday morning. In the event however, arriving mid afternoon on Tuesday we managed to find a space, so the usual stern- to with anchor dropped in the right place. Since Fern wasn’t due to land at Preveza Airport until about 7 in the evening we got the bikes out in the morning and cycled to the Roman city of Nicopolis and visited the 2 outdoor theatres that surround a stage, (these were also labelled as Odeum, but I think those are roofed halls). The larger second one was actually closed to the public, being substantially restored. However the workmen near the gate said ‘closed’ and at the same time waved us vigorously in! So we managed a look round as well. On the way back Paul spotted a ladder (he is going to convert it into a passerelle) so we bought it and he carried it on the bike as we cycled back to the boat. The Greeks carry and overload all sorts on their bikes and motorbikes so he looked like a local! Only difference is he wasn’t speaking on his phone at the same time๐ Fern arrived on time and we begin our week sailing with her. Back in a week ๐
