Saturday 4th June, Ormos Oxias

After a 30 mile passage with no wind, we were pleased to switch off the engine and swing at anchor for the night. This time in about 3m of water, and with virtually no shelter from land. At about 7pm we were visited by a couple of blokes in a small motor boat, and expecting to be told that we can’t anchor here, we were actually welcomed by the owner of many of the fish farms in the area who said that he was opening a taverna in a couple of weeks on the shore and that the three mooring buoys were his and we were welcome to tie up to them free of charge. He then proudly showed us his ‘insurance policy’, an app on his phone giving live video from about 6 cameras positioned around the bay. Very impressive! He left us with his phone number and a comment that if we were in the area and needed anything then he was the man to call. As usual any wind dropped off as the sun set and we had another very peaceful night at anchor. Tonight was the night of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee concert outside Buckingham Palace, and being remote, to get a good phone signal it was a case of hoisting our hot spot phone to the top of the mast. It worked perfectly and we had a late night (the concert finishing at 1am Greek time) in a very remote bay enjoying the show.
