Being in Messolonghi, it’s a shortish? passage to Ithaka, although with virtually no wind it turned out to be a 30 mile slog on the engine for 90% of the way. We headed into Sarakiniko bay on Itheka and dropped the anchor with a couple of lines ashore in almost dead calm conditions. We therefore decided a different technique of getting the lines tied to rocks with Ann taking a long line ashore in the tender and rowing back with the end of the attached line to Jacana as I laid the anchor. It was well worth the practice as it took a lot longer than it should have! The anchorage was adjacent to 2 totally deserted small beaches and we enjoyed a quick swim although Paul soon found out there were jellyfish in the water. Ouch! The beaches turned out to be not quite as idyllic as they looked when we heard rockfall, from the safety of our boat, with rocks bouncing off the steep cliff and into the sea. The cause turned out to be goats climbing down to lick salt from the pebbles. On Monday we took the tender to the head of the bay and enjoyed a walk over the hill into (big) Vathi, lunch, and a good look round.
