Saturday 21st May 2022, Another day in Messolonghi

We decided to stay in Messolonghi for a fourth day and get the bikes out. We’d seen on Google a circular route that went round some of the lagoons and salt pans to the south east of Messolonghi. We soon discovered that Google makes no assumptions as to the state of the roads and after about 4 miles in, the tarmac gave way to a rough track. And it was rough for another 10miles! However it was well worth it, seeing pelicans, flamingoes, and a very large eagle. Back at the entrance to the Messolonghi channel we paid a visit to the Salt museum, which was actually surprisingly interesting, and back in Messolonghi indulged in a Taverna lunch with yet another massive pork chop and a chance to rest our sore patches following our 17 mile cycle ride.
