Friday 20th May, Agrinio Police Station

Today was the reason we’re stopped in Messolonghi. So up early to catch the 0830 bus to Agrinio. All went well, and we arrived in Agrinio coach station 40 mins later, with time for a coffee. And because we got to the Police Station a bit early for our 11am appointment we we ushered to their canteen for another cup. We were expecting to leave with inky fingers, but for Ann it was a digital scan of thumbs and forefingers, and for me just forefingers. (I’m now half expecting to get called back to get my thumbs done!) We’ve now got to go back in 10 to 15 days to finally collect our biometric cards valid for 5 years. It will have been well worth the effort and means we can stay in Greece for as long as we like, although we believe that if we don’t stay for at least 6 months that they may not renew it in 2027 (by which time we’ll have ‘done’ Greece). After a bit of retail therapy for Ann, 2 dresses and several spaghetti strap vests in various colours, also a basil plant not only for cooking but they keep mosquitoes away, we were back on the bus and back on Jacana by 2pm, just in time for our siesta!
