We woke up in Kalamos to another totally windless day. We raised the chain and as I thought, I had laid our anchor chain across our neighbours boat, so up came his anchor chain hooked over our anchor. This was an opportunity to practice with our anchor hook, where it is lowered under the other chain on a rope, tied off on a cleat, then we lower our anchor to free ourselves, and then the clever bit, a second rope attached to the hook is pulled which releases the hooked chain. A very simple but effective device. We then motored the 4 miles to Kastos, where we were blessed with about 6 spaces on the wall to choose from. This was a perfect stern to with anchor drop manoeuvre, although once we had tied off and tightened the anchor we only had a couple of metres of chain left in the locker.
After an excellent dinner in the Windmill taverna we went to the very friendly El.a (Ela and Alex) bar overlooking the harbour where we saw the very spectacular blood full moon rising up past the windmill. What a brilliant photo!
