Tuesday 18th August, Corfu and Sivota bay

Armed with paperwork and passport photos, we arrived at the immigration office a good 30mins before our appointment at 11 but after only a 5 minute wait we were invited in. With surprising efficiency the immigration officer dressed in a scruffy tea shirt, noted bank statement balances (more than £4000), took copies of passports, copies of EHIC cards, a Greek address (we used the yard where Jacana is being hauled out for the winter) and with the 4 passport photos he filled details in on a computerised form, helpfully all in Greek, printed it out, got us to sign our respective forms and told us to return at the end of the week to collect the permits. For all we know, we might be collecting dog licences! As Sara told us, we might then have to get a dog😂
Anyway back to the boat and across to the mainland and anchored up, with 2 lines ashore in a sheltered bay next to Sivota. Despite this being our first attempt at anchoring with lines ashore, it went well, although the line tie’er did struggle to tie a bowline round a large rock, but she did eventually make it! Oi, I was balancing on slippery rocks (I have the scratches to prove it) avoiding prickly sea urchins then getting shoved by the swell from passing speed boats into the prickly undergrowth. They didn’t tell me about this when I did my day skipper!
