Driving down to do a bit of work on Jacana. Arrived about 1700 to find that the tent cover had survived the winter Mistral although slightly ripped in places and inside she was totally dry. Over the next few days we did a few jobs including starting to fit a battery monitor, fitting a water filter on the supply side of the domestic water pump, fitted a gas alarm, fitted new engine sea water pump, and tried unsucessfully to interface the AIS receiver box with the cockpit Vulcan plotter.
During our short stay we became more aware of the impending Covid issues both in France and the UK and drove back over a couple of days to catch our planned ferry on 16 March. France was closing down rapidly, and the en route overnight hotel insisted that we ate dinner in our bedroom. About the only place open in Cherbourg was Carrefour so for supper we bought a pre roasted chicken and salad and ate sitting watching the boats at the marina.
We arrived back home the following day to a rapidly closing down country with lockdown announced the following week.
French speeding ticket arrived ! Approx £40 fine for exceeding the limit by about 5mph. Could have been a lot worse.
