Day 93 St Oyan to Macon

Saturday 3rd August

Another short run, going past the marina on the outskirts of Macon, we took a gamble on getting on one of the 2 free town pontoons, success!, with the larger, closer to the action and probably noisier pontoon completely empty, and the smaller, on the other quieter side of the river with only one boat tied up. We opted for the quieter side. In the cool of the late afternoon we did the sites of Macon, narrow streets and not one but three grand churches, one of which was only a couple of hundred years old. In tradition with other Saturday nights we watched two impressive live bands, the second of which played mainly UK and US soul, blues with hints of jazz music, and apart from the pronunciation of some of the lyrics was really brilliant. For instance, Tom Jones' "You can keep your at on". They played their final encore at midnight.
