Monday 1 June
The first lock of the day took us from the river Marne to the Canal Lateral a la Marne and its now canals until we reach the River Soane on 'the other side' (this is when we start our descent) in a few weeks time. Four locks today, this time activated by twisting a pole hanging down in the middle of the canal a few hundred metres before the lock. All 4 worked well taking us up another 10 metres. We moored up in a small marina at Conde sur Marne, a small village with only a single(!!!) boulangerie and St. Reme a 12th century Church.
