The shady trees of the mooring together with the Pannier Champagne caves just over a km away were too much of a temptation to move on, plus a few odd jobs on the boat. Also with a petrol station less than a 100 metres away so I topped up the tanks from the Jerry cans to work out our fuel consumption, 36 litres of diesel for 20 hours motoring, about 1.9 litres per hour.
The champagne caves were fascinating, with over 4 million bottles being stored in a labyrinth of medieval caves created from stone quarrying at a lovely 12°. We naturally had a few samples and made a purchase before cycling back to the boat.
