Sunday 26 May
This was definitely a day of two halves. Firstly the 5 hour, very lumpy passage, dead into a 20 to 25 knot wind, allegedly with the tide, covering the 20 miles in 5 hours, arriving in the calm of the Royal North Sea Yacht Club mid afternoon, to be confronted with the Oostende voor ancker Sea festival in full swing, with steam boats patrolling the harbour and 150 classic wooden sailing ships moored up in the inner basins. Together with stalls offering a vast selection of fresh seafood, and maritime related products, this really did round off the second half of the day.
