Left Dover Marina at 0700 and following permission from Port Control headed to the East Entrance, where at the Knucle lighthouse sought final permission to exit the Eastern entrance. Nice friendly wave from Port Control as we left. Very patchy fog with visibility down to about a mile in places as we headed northeast toward Goodwin sands. AIS and radar were invaluable as we turned to a south easterly direction to cross the shipping channels, although by now the fog had lifted and very little shipping encountered. We actually sailed across both lanes without altering course, however, 2 tankers kindly altered their course for us. Once across, the tide and gentle breeze took us up to Dunkerque where we tied up along side the visitors pontoon at Le Grand Large marina at about 1800 local time. Enjoyed dinner on board although did venture to the marina restaurant for a beer where we unfortunately bumped into the marina security chap who happily took our mooring fees. He did mention that because of Brexit that he would need to see and copy our passports, but as it was late, he couldn't be bothered!
