Saturday 3rd May to Monday 5th May, Eretria

Our plan is to go North, ultimately towards Thessaloniki for summer lift out and then in September on to Leros for over wintering. So we need to navigate the Chalkida bridge, which joins Evia with the mainland. Despite being the size of Weymouth Town Bridge, it only opens once per day around midnight, but not Saturday nights, and costs nearly double to pass through it on Sundays, so it meant going through it on Monday night at the earliest, so a couple of nights at anchor in Eritrea, being very careful not drop our anchor anywhere near the fisherman’s anchor we fouled in October last year!
On Sunday lunchtime we headed straight to a meat taverna we had visited last year for very tender pork barbecued on a pavement spit, together with kokoretsi (lamb or goat intestines wrapped round offal, including sweetbreads, hearts, lungs or kidneys) for Ann. As usual we over ordered and had more than enough for the following day.
Ever since we purchased Jacana, we’ve had peeling varnish in the cockpit. Ann made a start on it. See photos below.
On Monday morning. we headed north and typically, absolutely no wind.
