As the sun came up, we heard activity from the Boatclub with the it boat trailer being pushed out to sea. 10 mins later we were on the trailer being hauled out for the winter. So time to put Jacana to bed, with a handful of jobs, wash the salt off the deck, bimini and spray hood, flush the engine with fresh water, lower the anchor and chain and wash it, tidy up below deck, bikes bagged and away, wash lines, remove keel plug, lots of laundry, boat covers on, outboard flushed and drained……..
We’ve booked 5 nights in a central Athens hotel, so Friday morning we walked the 500m to the bus stop, and after paying €10.40 for the two of us, caught a small minibus. After 30mins we reached a pretty town and everyone got off. Then Paul noticed our bag had been taken off the bus and placed outside another one, so we got off and put our bag in the hold and climbed aboard. An hour and a half in total we found ourselves as Athenian tourists, not having to look up the weather forecast every day, and worrying about where we’re going to park Jacana for the night!
