Wednesday 23rd to Thursday 24th October, Buffalo bay

This was yet another day with 20-30kt gusts on the bow and with 4′ waves breaking over the bow. We’d intended doing about 15 miles to anchor in a sheltered mainland area, but decided to drive on further north for a further 10 miles to reach the other side of the Evia channel where it bends round to the west and hence more shelter. We ended up anchoring in the very sheltered (apart from gusts) and very attractive Buffalo bay on Evia. We’d planned staying 2 nights, eating on board the first night and then in one of the 2 tavernas the second night. However, when we went ashore for an afternoon walk we asked the Taverna owner for a beer but he replied 7 o’clock. The other Taverna seemed closed, so we only stayed one night. We’re having to manage our water carefully, so Thursday morning, armed with shampoo and a towel, Ann had a swim then after extracting ourselves from the exceptionally friendly cats, we took advantage of the beach shower to wash the salt out of our hair and shower.
