Monday 3rd to Wednesday 5th June, Korfos

Time to pass through the Corinth canal, this year from West to East to the the Saronic Gulf.
We paid the fee of €174 on line on Sunday with an estimated transit time of 10am so at 0945 on Monday morning we’d radioed in that we were at the entrance. An hour and three quarters later! , Jacana and four other sailing boats finally got the call. It seems (and expected) that they give priority to commercial ships, but then we were held up by a large super yacht as well – I suppose they do pay more than us.
So out the other side and motored (mainly) round the headland to Korfos, to anchor for a couple of nights.
It’s getting hot now, but we did managed a walk up to a small closed church, and Ann went swimming a couple of times and with a long-handled brush cleaned the water tide off the hull and some clay from Messalonghi, (still too cold for some of us) which is easier to do from the water. We also took the dinghy across to the other side of the harbour and shared a really nice scorpion fish at Celina’s Taverna followed by an ice cream and a Metaxa in the bar.
