Life definitely in the slow lane today, 4 hours to do just 5 miles!, with 1 lock and 6 bridges ticked off.
We soon established that a bridge will only open if there is more than one boat passing underneath it, which resulted in a 15 minute wait at the first bridge and then nearly an hour wait at the second, by which time we had a convoy of 3 boats and no wait at the subsequent bridges. We pontoon moored up in the centre of Middelburg, and spent a few hours exploring the delightful town centre, with its 3 churches and numerous canals. We had an excellent and fairly inexpensive dinner in the Arne sailing club just opposite the mooring.
