We got into Perdika early and had the choice of prime positions on the harbour wall. Then the fun started as the cross winds picked up and the charter boats started arriving. Lots of shouting from all quarters, but the ‘highlight’ was a German (we think) on a charter boat, totally incapable of steering his boat. He drifted into our neighbour’s (a Serbian) anchor chain and rather than turning round the chain, he just looked the other way and turned away from it, the result was his stern quarter damaging the Serbian’s bow roller and pulling out his anchor. He was not a happy chap!
In relaying his anchor, one of his crew badly injured a finger needing hospital treatment, taking a mooring line off a bollard. He was very lucky not to lose it. We later saw the Serbian skipper ‘speaking’ with the German demanding €200 cash (presumably the insurance excess) and the German denying that he’d even touched his boat. We don’t know how it was finally resolved.
Anyway things calmed down and we ventured into the town, with lots of harbour front tavernas and bars and in the morning, once the charters had safely left we even found a large supermarket selling meat, and a bakery.
We certainly won’t return to the harbour unless it is well out of season!
