Wednesday 21st to Thursday 22nd June, Porto Heli

Once we’d motored round the headland from Kilada, we had a good sail tacking across the bay into Porto Heli. Porto Heli is a well sheltered natural harbour, shaped a bit like a jellyfish. With a large new (and expensive) marina, the town does for some reason attract lots of ‘gin palaces’. We anchored in the middle of the bay, which turned out to be disappointing with loud music playing until 3am.

In the morning we went ashore for breakfast, and like Kilada, Porto Heli was nothing special, lots of bars, tavernas and shops, but still no people around. When does the summer season start? We eventually found somewhere for breakfast (see photos) and probably the highlight of the town was the church, but it was locked until 5pm!
