Thursday 18th to Friday 19th May, North end of Navarino Bay

Today, just a 2 mile motor to anchor at the north end of Navarino Bay to explore the fortress on the hill, Nestor’s cave and relax on Voidokilia beach. All were stunning, although the 13th century Old Navarino Fort was overgrown with shrubs, it did offer tremendous all round views.
Nestor’s cave on the way down was also impressive. It is allegedly the mythical cave of Nestor, son of Neleus where the royal cattle were kept. According to myth, Hermes hid the 50 cattle stolen from Apollo in this cave.
Then down to Voidokilia beach, one of the most beautiful beaches we have ever seen, with soft sand set in dunes in a sheltered horseshoe protected bay with clear blue water. Well it tempted Ann!
