We motored for about a mile against a strong southerly and as we rounded the bottom of Itheka the wind duly dropped and we continued to motor across the channel into Agia Effimia, our first visit to Kefalonia with Jacana. Under the direction of Maggis the harbour master we tied up stern to with the anchor in a half full harbour. This is where a few yachts sank and the harbour wall sustained damage during the medicane in September 2020. In fact they were still repairing the wall although thankfully all evidence of the striken yachts had gone. An average Greek tourist village with its only redeeming features being a Roman mosaic floor and a very well stocked chandlery, which included a stainless steel scissor type device which looked like an instrument of medieval torture but apparently was for cutting urchins in half – the spine sea water variety!
