Wednesday 22nd to Saturday 25th June, Lefkas and Varko Bay

We waved our farewells to Fern Wednesday morning, and caught up with a few necessities such as laundry, restocking (for some reason we’re now light on wine!) and taking our winter boat cover round to Waypoint Sails at the Marina to hopefully repair the damage from last winter. We also ventured to the Havana bar for an after dinner cocktail and to listen to Renee’s excellent live performance of Cuban music.
Thursday we anchored in Varko Bay to relax for a couple of nights. However as the sun set, unusually the wind gusts didn’t subside and at about 2 in the morning we were awoken by the wind and poking my head into the cockpit, the track on the plotter showed us starting to drift out to sea. Just as well we stirred, otherwise we may have woken up in Nidri! So a case of relaying the anchor in pitch darkness in our pj’s! That was the last gust of the night. Friday morning we noticed ‘What’s the Rush’ heading our way so Friday evening we invited Gwen and Pete and 2 of their friends on Jacana for a few pre-dinner drinks. (it’s a tough life).
