Thursday 9th June, Sivota, Lefkada

We’re now heading slowly towards Preveza to meet Fern on Wednesday. We had originally planned to meet up with John and Anne on Corfu on Sunday and then Fern on Wednesday, however the timeliness of getting our residency permits and being delayed an extra day in Messolonghi meant that the trip north to Corfu was not really practical. So today we went to Yannis Taverna Ionian pontoon in Sivota, sailing most of the 12 miles with the wind on our stern. The mooring fee is eating in his restaurant, renowned for its fish! A great hardship!
After dinner I was excited to see an immaculate white Fiat 127 dating from 1976, my first car was a ’78 version!
We had a government alarm signal on our phone warning us of severe weather. Extra lines were advised by Yannis to help secure the boat from the forecast southerly winds. Then in the middle of the night we were awoken for an hour with the heavens opening and a severe thunder and lightning storm. So much of a downpour that the elusive leak showed itself in the morning with a damp chart table and wet shelf.
