What a rubbish night. After we reset the anchor, the wind picked up with a corresponding increase in the swell coming into the bay. So we were awake until about 2 am when the wind started to drop watching for the anchor to drag again. This time it was well dug in. Come late morning we raised a very tight anchor and headed for Nidri and the opportunity to relax at the Sailing Holidays pontoon, where for €15 per night including use of the Iris Hotel swimming pool and water and electricity we ended up staying for 2 nights.
Also with a very well stocked (in fact the best I have ever seen) Chandlery just 5 mins away we invested in long shore lines, a small folding anchor for the tender and also received 10% discount in the bargain.
A chance to catch up with jobs so I wired in an anchor alarm to the plotter so now we can hear it when we’re down below. Back to the Chandlers, I needed 10 (well 3 to be precise) small bolts, nuts and washers, all for €1!. Back home the local swindlers would charge at least 5 times that. To cap it, I had no change, so the shop owner said I could owe her the euro!
A great and cheap stopping off point, close to shops, restaurants etc, although not available during flotilla change over nights.
