Day 133 Sanary-sur-Mer to Isle des Embiez

Wednesday 11th September

Woke to sunshine rather than torrential rain, and a very large market on the Quay, which has apparently been voted the prettiest in France, selling everything from reconditioned violins to prawns the size of dinner plates. (well small dinner plates). We therefore left just afternoon for the 2 mile passage across the bay to an anchorage just off Isle des Embiez. Not long after we anchored up, we were boarded by 3 French customs officials bearing pistols to check our ships papers and passports, fortunately one spoke very good English, and they went off in their rib happy. I guess we're now officially in France! All was then well until about 6 in the evening when a swell from the west developed (the wind was from the south) which resulted in a very uncomfortable night with very little sleep.
