Day 114 Arles to Port St Louis

Saturday 24th August

The final (at long last) lock at Port St Louis only opens about 4 times a day, so we left Arles at 1130 to catch the 1530 opening, along with about 10 other pleasure boats and a big barge. Unfortunately in the confusion on the cramped lock the small boat behind us managed to bend and crack the glass in our stern light. Typical after nearly 200 locks! Also a strange smell in the stern berth in the evening revealed one of the two domestic batteries being too hot to touch. Something else to replace.
After 80 days of travelling at a very sedate rate, we have finally reached the Mediterranean Sea!
So a couple of nights in Port St Louis marina before being reunited with our mast on Wednesday.
