Sunday 28th July
A fairly short run today of about 20 km downstream with one lock (over 180 metres long) to the lovely old town (aren’t they all!) of Verdun-sur-le-Doubs, the confluence of theĀ river Doubs and the river Saone. The little marina is in the very centre of the town and as we arrived a local English band were setting up, literally in front of us to play throughout the afternoon, along with a craft market. So a quick visit to the Corn and Bread museum (surprisingly interesting) followed by a few beers listening to the very good band (Hydrophob Orchestra) along with a hundred or so locals rounded off a brilliant afternoon.
